How Do I Post a File to the Site?
To post a site for members of the group to view or download, click the "Upload a file" link in the grey box at the top left of the site. Don't worry, no one can access these files (or any other part of the site) without a membership account.
Clicking "Upload a file" will take you to a listing of all of the files that members have posted so far. Just below this list, you will see a link titled FILE UPLOAD with a little triangle next to it. Click on the link text and that section of the page will expand.
Click the "Choose File" button and you will see a listing of the files on your hard drive. Select the file you want to upload and click "Open."
Next, fill out the description field so other members know what the file is. A good description will be something like the following: "This is my latest draft of 'The Great American Short Story.' We're going to be discussing it at the June meeting in Cambridge. Looking forward to hearing what you think!"
I advise you to leave the "New Name" field blank unless you are really sure you want to change the name of the file.
If you do change the filename, be sure to add the appropriate extension to the end (for example: .pdf, .doc) so that other members' computers know what application to use to open it.
Above all, remember to click the UPLOAD button at the bottom of the FILE UPLOAD section when you're finished. Everything else is preliminary; actually clicking this button uploads the file.
